Wednesday Evening
The first keynote speaker of the congress is:
René Clarijs (Netherlands), connected to the Academy for Public Change (Tilburg University) and author and editor of a number of books and articles, will speak about The Dutch way of policy making: how FGC is rooted in the mentality of Dutch citizens.

Thursday Morning
In the morning, the congress theme will be introduced by national and international key note speakers:
- Dr. Maria Herczog (Hungary), president of Eurochild and member of the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child, will speak about including Family Group Conferencing (FGC) in the International Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) and how FGC supports the de-institutionalizing in Central and Eastern Europe.
- Lodewijk Asscher (The Netherlands), is Alderman of Amsterdam, on finances, youth and education. He also is deputy mayor of Amsterdam and leader of thepolitical party PvdA Amsterdam.
- Prof. Dr. Hans van Ewijk (The Netherlands), lector of Hogeschool Utrecht and professor of Universiteit voor Humanistiek, discusses active citizenship, as described in his book European Social Policy and Social Work, Citizenship based Social Work. In this book, he gives an introduction on European social policy and a new vision on social care.
- Ted Wachtel (USA) is president of the International Institute for Restorative Practices in the USA. His talk attempts to distance social workers from their concern about being usurped by restorative justice and to see FGC as part of a larger trend toward democratizing human services and justice in general.

Thursday Evening
In the evening, all congress participants are invited to enjoy a dinner, interspersed with amusement. Playbacktheatre 'Wordt Vervolgd' plays personal experiences from the audience: success stories, important lessons, miracles and bloopers.

Friday Morning
Morning program with three keynote speakers:
- Prof. Dr. Frank Früchtel (Germany), Fachhochschule Potsdam (Potsdam University of Applied Sciences), Fachbereich Sozialwesen (Department of Social Work) . His subject is The Colonisation of the Lifeworld and FGC as a Lifeworld approach.
- Rob Jagtenberg and Annie de Roo (The Netherlands), a research in the context of youth projects and multi-problem families, by Mediation International Research in collaboration with the Institute for Public Sector Efficiency Studies.
- Mike Doolan (New Zealand) participated in the introduction of FGC in New Zealand at the time. Also in the Netherlands he is been very helpful in rethinking how families and agencies can work together in keeping the responsibilities that rightly belong to families.
Friday Afternoon
On Friday afternoon again there will be panels, workshops and paper presentations, including a panel discussion on international FGC research.
At last, the congress will be reviewd in an original and interactive way.

Parallel film program
In a parallel film program on Thursday and Friday, films on FGC and related subjects will be shown continuously, and theatrical intermezzo’s on democratizing help en welfare.
